‘So that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith – that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.’
‘Make every effort to add to your faith goodness, and to goodness, knowledge, and to knowledge, self-control, and to self-control perseverance and to perseverance Godliness, and to Godliness, brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love.’ 2 Peter 5-7
‘I love those who love me, and those who seek me diligently find me.’ Proverbs 8:17
Oh come, let us sing to the Lord;
let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation!
Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving;
let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!
For the Lord is a great God,
and a great King above all gods.
In his hand are the depths of the earth;
the heights of the mountains are his also.
The sea is his, for he made it,
and his hands formed the dry land.
Oh come, let us worship and bow down;
let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker!
‘Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.’ Psalm 37:4
‘Behold, children are a gift of the Lord; The fruit of the womb is a reward.’ Psalm 127:3
‘Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all offences.’ Proverbs 10:12
‘Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers a multitude of sins.’ 1 Peter 4:8
Lord, let us be content within and fill our hearts with your love. Give us the will to share with others the blessings which in your love you have chosen to give. Keep our families strong, with your armour, allow us to stand firm against the enemy.
Help us to be open and honest with each other, keep your arms around us Lord and your spirit within. Thank you for sacrificing your only son on the cross so we may be forgiven. Thank you Lord for your sufferings, sufferings that we could never endure.
Lord, please help us to be more patient, confident, spiritual and Godly. I pray that we can unite in our families and in our church.
Heavenly father, thank you for our beautiful children. Please open their eyes too Lord. I pray for opportunities to guide them to you. Fill them with your love. Let our wisdom from you show through. Guide us to say the right words to our children when speaking of you. Let us keep your presence strong in our homes. I pray Lord that we can be given time to prioritise you. Amen.
Heavenly Father, let us take everything to you Lord. Seek you with our minds, body and soul. Teach us to be more and more like you. Continue to build us, mould us, and reach a point where our faith in you shines out and the only one we need is you Lord. So rid us of the doubts, shut out the enemy and keep our eyes fixed solely on you, praise you, glorify you and honour you. Amen.
Father, please do not allow the worries of this life, the deceitfulness of wealth and the desires for other things come in and choke your word making it unfruitful.
Please let your seed be sown in me like a seed on good soil, so that I hear your word and accept it – producing crop. Please protect my heart Lord and do not allow your word to be taken from me by Satan. Keep your word rooted in me so that I can defend it from trouble being entered into my heart through your power and strength Lord. Purify my heart O Lord and remove any thorns that will choke your word. I pray Lord that like a lamp standing tall on a stand for all to see – I shine bright and tall revealing your light. In Jesus name. Amen.
I’d just sat the kids down for tea, looked out of my kitchen window and there right in front of me were the most beautiful colours of the sunset, pink, purple, orange and yellow. Below this stood the silhouette of the mountains, and looking further down, the deep blue sea. My eyes wondered across this magnificent sight and suddenly a murmuration of starlings came into my view. If you have seen this before you will know how mesmerising it is to watch them, the smooth movements of the swarm as they dance around beautifully, cleverly grouping together for safety, to make it difficult for a predator to target them. I stood there reflecting on how awesome our God is, buzzing with excitement at the detail of his amazing creations that were right outside my window, the evidence staring right at me. This was something I couldn’t let my children miss, tea or no tea! My children LOVE watching the starlings, so as soon as I mentioned them, my son got up, pretty much pressed his face against the window and jumped for joy – and there I saw some more evidence, this time in my home, right next to me, from my son’s reaction to the beautiful swarm of starlings. The joy that shined out of my son was straight from God. The anticipation in his eyes waiting for when the starlings would next fly pass our window’s view – all from God. I pointed out the sky, the mountains and the sea to both my daughter and son giving them the opportunity to take in all the beautiful colours and all of God’s wonderful creation. In that 10 minutes of time spent with my children, exposing them to our wondrous world, we were captivated in a calm, safe, joyful moment that was all produced from the love that God put into his creations. The work of God’s hands.
Other than prayer, the only other true way we can receive the wisdom we need to survive in this world and get through each day in strength and love is to read the most important book we could ever lay our eyes on – THE BIBLE.
Read it, feed your souls on it, absorb it, recite it, keep it in your mind, hearts and souls. Then pass it on with your words and actions to your children, family and people we meet, so they too can receive seeds to our Father’s wisdom and everlasting love.
